How syncing works
Web → iPhone: saves here go straight to iCloud. The updated Gigsmith picks them up the next time it syncs (open the app or pull to refresh). The newest edit wins, wherever it was made.
iPhone → web: changes made in the app appear here within 30 seconds, or right away with Refresh.
Never overwrites by accident: if a record changes in the app while you're editing it here, saving is blocked until you load the newer version.
Deleting stays in the app for now. The phone would bring a web-deleted record back.
Older gigs: a gig last synced by an older Gigsmith doesn't have its title or expenses in iCloud yet. Open the updated app once and they'll appear here.

Saves a sample gig, venue and contact with every field the web app writes into a temporary, separate storage area, reports anything iCloud rejects, then deletes that area. Gigsmith never sees it.
